Adam Fuss
English, born 1961
Adam Fuss, not unlike Man Ray and Lazslo Moholy-Nagy in the 1920s, has revived the photographic techniques of photograms and dispensed with the camera. In this image, the artist’s ethereal image of birds in flight was captured when he exposed the oversized photosensitive paper to light. According to Fuss, “An echo is a good way to describe the photogram, which is a visual echo of the real object.” The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City and Vienna Moderner Kunst Museum are among the institutions that collect Fuss’ photographs.
