Main Dining Room
Guests are escorted into the
central dining forum where twenty-four oversized, generously spaced
tables create an aura of intimacy. Not only visually appealing,
Tru is also refined to the ear, as well. Relaxing and grand, light
instrumental jazz sounds fill the air and conversations sound
like muted humming.
The tables, covered in sensual silk white
linens from the House of Frette linen tablecloths and surrounded
by black velvet chairs custom made chairs from Spain make-up the
room's minimalist decorum and are accented by such toned down
elements as simple, neutral-colored flowers, pussywillows or branches
ensconced in tall vases, a service staff outfitted entirely in
black and theatrical style-spotlights dimmed to invoke a feeling
of calm and serenity.
In contrast to Tru's subtlety is the restaurant's
artwork, which striking and colorfully contemporary, consists
of original pieces from such renowned artists as: Andy Warhol
and Roger Mapplethorpe. Window boxes peering out from the kitchen
showcase seasonal produce as a bold move to elevate food to an
art form. Changing all the time, one day it may be pomegranates,
the next the tops of garlic bulbs suspended in water.
